About Us
Our Story
Constructive Interference Circus is a women and queer owned circus creating unique multidisciplinary productions, grounded in human connection, with a desire to inspire, challenge, and celebrate the diversity of human experience through our captivating performances. CI Circus was founded in 2022 by Eliana Perlmutter, Mara Rico, Meghan McClure, and Sequoia Allen. Each member brings their own experience to the group from dance pole, gymnastics, partner dance, traditional and contemporary circus. The four producers met in 2021 during the Elements Pre-Professional Training Program at The Circus Project where they bonded and became passionate about creating together. They bring in cast members with similar values to create ensemble shows that are authentic to the group of performers.

Mission
Constructive Interference is a contemporary ensemble circus that celebrates the beauty of the everyday, exploring the joy that can be found in the quotidian. We invite audiences into a collective journey through genuine, human-centered storytelling and dynamic creativity. Our performances balance breathtaking movement with nostalgia, wonder, and reflection. Transformation doesn’t require escape; it lies in authentic presence.
We meld authentic storytelling and circus arts with the goal to inspire, connect, and empower. Through performances as meaningful as they are dynamic we explore the depths of our shared human experiences and the richness of vulnerability. While pushing our artistic and physical limits, we nourish ourselves and our communities from creation through performance. We create work that resonates deeply, fostering thought, emotion and genuine connections. In communities local and afar we celebrate the power of art to bring people together, highlighting the importance of community, authenticity, and the transformative nature of creative expression.

Vision

Values
Compassion: We believe that the creation and presentation of our art demands compassion and empathy. We center the needs of the performers, crew, and communities within which we operate in all capacities. While circus is inherently daring and does contain risk, we collaborate to care for ourselves and those around us. While acknowledging that we exist in a deeply flawed present, we embody the way that we want the world to operate.
Collaboration: Each artist is an essential contributor to our work. Every one of us offers our skills, dreams, and experience to build our artistic vision. We create together, with guidance and support. Our creations are what they are because of the people who build them. We support each other to sustainably learn, grow, and build skills. We work within our communities and beyond to create new avenues and possibilities for circus arts.
Authenticity: We create work that is grounded in and reflects out our true selves and stories. We welcome the fullness of experience that our performer-creators bring. We seek truth and intimacy even in our explorations of imagination.
Creativity: We draw from the larger world and our own experiences to expand beyond the typical expectations of circus. As performer-creators, each performance is unique to those gathered. Beyond the stage, our creativity manifests in production as well, finding a way to dream together beyond conventional limitations.
